Gīta Jayanti: the sacred advent of the Bhagavad-gita

When Krishna’s voice became an eternal, revealing Presence: the sacred Advent of the Bhagavad Gita.

Today, in every corner of the world, we celebrate the sacred Advent of the Bhagavad Gita, the text that for millennia has illuminated the path of humanity and revealed the eternal voice of Śrī Krishna within the heart of history.

On this day of special blessing, we remember how the Gita descended as a gift of grace, spoken on the battlefield of Kurukṣetra to awaken Arjuna—and, through him, each one of us. Each of its teachings continues to speak to our conscience, guiding us in the art of living, loving, and serving with righteousness and devotion.

With hearts filled with gratitude, we turn our thoughts to the guru-paramparā, the unbroken chain of Masters who, since the dawn of time, have transmitted sacred knowledge without alteration. Without their service of love and sacrifice, not a single word of the Gita would have reached us in its original purity.

And on this luminous day, I wish to offer my eternal gratitude to my Guru Mahārāja, Śrīla A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupāda, who through his mercy and dedication made the Bhagavad Gita accessible to the world in its full authenticity. Through his teaching and his personal example, the Voice of Krishna continues to become a living Presence in the hearts of all who aspire to advance on the path of devotion.

On this anniversary, let us renew our commitment to live the teachings of the Gita with a sincere heart—transforming every action into an offering, every thought into awareness, and every relationship into a space for harmony and spiritual growth.

A verse for peace and harmony
(Bhagavad-gītā 5.29)

bhoktāraṁ yajña-tapasāṁ
sarva-loka-maheśvaram
suhṛdaṁ sarva-bhūtānāṁ
jñātvā māṁ śāntim ṛcchati

Translation:
"A person in full consciousness of Me, knowing Me to be the ultimate beneficiary of all sacrifices and austerities, the Supreme Lord of all planets and demigods, and the benefactor and well-wisher of all living entities, attains peace from the pangs of material miseries."
Explanation:
Peace arises from recognizing that Krishna is the beneficiary, the Lord, and the friend of all. When we see every being under His care, the heart naturally opens to harmony, and all antagonism loses its power.

A verse on the highest purpose of human life

(Bhagavad-gītā 18.66)
sarva-dharmān parityajya
mām ekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja
ahaṁ tvāṁ sarva-pāpebhyo
mokṣayiṣyāmi mā śucaḥ
Translation:
"Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinful reactions. Do not fear."
Explanation:
The supreme goal of human life is loving surrender to God, which frees one from suffering and opens the way to a peace that never sets. In this invitation, the very heart of the Bhagavad-gītā is fulfilled: the call to live in trust, in devotion, and in an inner light that never fades.

May we welcome this luminous day as an invitation to awaken the purest part of ourselves and to advance on the path of Dharma with humility, trust, and gratitude, remembering that Śrī Krishna is always within our hearts—loving guide and eternal companion.

With gratitude and spiritual affection,
Śrī Guru and Śrī Gaurā
ṅga pada-sevā, kī jaya!
