In Loving Memory of Drutakarma das (Michael Cremo)

It was with deep sorrow that I learned of the passing of my esteemed godbrother, Michael Cremo (Drutakarma Dasa), who devoted his life to research, scholarship, and the dissemination of knowledge, distinguishing himself particularly through his investigations in archaeology and paleontology.

Through his best-known work, Forbidden Archeology, and his numerous contributions to publishing, radio, and television, he helped foster a debate concerning discoveries and interpretations of human history that he believed had been unjustly overlooked by mainstream science.

I had the opportunity to share the platform with him as a fellow speaker at the International Conference Life and Its Origin, held in 2004 at the Protomoteca of the Capitoline Hill in Rome, organized by the Bhaktivedanta Institute in collaboration with the Centro Studi Bhaktivedanta.

Although we did not have other significant opportunities to collaborate personally, I always appreciated his tireless dedication to Srila Prabhupada’s mission, to which he offered his abilities as a scholar, researcher, and communicator.

With his passing, we have lost not only an important member of the Bhaktivedanta Institute, to which he contributed from its early years, but above all a sincere Vaishnava who dedicated his life to the service of his spiritual master, striving to make the historical and cultural heritage of the Vedic tradition more widely known.

I feel a sense of regret that I did not find more opportunities to collaborate with him. Along with my gratitude for all that he contributed, I cherish the memory of our meeting and of the ideal of service we shared.

With heartfelt sympathy and spiritual affection, I offer my prayers to Sri Krishna, asking Him to welcome this dear and esteemed godbrother into His divine presence.
