Dear Bhakti Swarupa Damodara Goswami Maharaja
Dear Bhakti Swarupa Damodara Goswami Maharaja and members of the community of his disciples,
please accept my respectful obeisances.
All glories to Shrila Prabhupada.
On this day when you joyfully remember the birth of your beloved spiritual Master, I wish to join you with heartfelt gratitude and fraternal affection for the radiant legacy he has left in the hearts of all of us.
H.H. Bhakti Swarupa Damodara Goswami, with his rare union of spiritual depth and scientific rigor, opened new pathways in the dialogue between spirituality and science. His dedication to the teachings of Shrila Prabhupada and to Vaishnava bhajans remains an inexhaustible source of inspiration for all who wish to let Krishna consciousness shine in the contemporary world.
I was blessed to share with him several opportunities for service. I fondly remember the joy we felt as men and women of science approached with interest the subjects we were presenting, and the enthusiasm with which we planned further occasions to serve the mission of His Divine Grace Shrila Prabhupada.
I treasure these memories not to exalt them, but because they testify to his vision, the purity of his intent, and his ability to inspire cooperation in the sacred mission that Shrila Prabhupada entrusted to him.
Although his departure ended the possibility of serving together on the physical plane, I still feel the living presence of his spiritual companionship, his friendship and guidance in the endeavor to offer everything to Krishna.
On the day of his appearance, I join his disciples in offering homage to this great soul, who lived and served with exemplary dedication.
May his pure Bhakti continue to guide our path and inspire new hearts toward pure service and Love for Radha and Krishna.
As the Bhagavad-gītā reminds us:
“One who understands the transcendental nature of My appearance and activities does not, upon leaving the body, take birth again in this material world, but attains My eternal abode.” (Bg 4.9)
With gratitude and spiritual affection,
Matsya Avatar Das
